Mobile Drug Guide
About
The Mobile Drug Guide provides the ability to search the
National Drug Code Directory
for information about drugs in the nation's prescription formulary based on the drug's name, active ingredients, pharmacological class, NDC (National Drug Code) or, in the case of a pill, its physical characteristics (i.e. color, shape, scoring or imprint) aka Pill Identifier. It also allows you to view the What's New Related to Drugs RSS feed provided by the FDA.
The NDC Directory contains information ONLY on final marketed drugs submitted to the FDA in Structured Product Label (SPL) electronic listing files by labelers. (A labeler may be either a manufacturer, including a repackager or relabeler, or, for drugs subject to private labeling arrangements, the entity under whose own label or trade name the product will be distributed). Inclusion of information in the NDC Directory does not indicate that FDA has verified the information provided. The content of each NDC Directory entry is the responsibility of the labeler submitting the SPL file.
Consumer friendly information is provided by linking search results to drug information at
MedlinePlus
, Clinical Trials at

Clinical information is provided by linking search results to the SPL. Drug labeling and other information in the SPL is what has been submitted by drug companies to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as drug listing information. The SPL is provided by
DailyMed
.
The database of pill images is provided by the National Library of Medicine's, Office of High Performance Computing and Communications (OHPCC),
C3PI RxImageAccess RESTful Web API

The number of images available through the API is increasing as part of a multi-year commitment by the NLM to develop the first publicly accessible and curated standardized image collection of prescription pharmaceutical products marketed in the United States.
